Now we are at the end,that is happy end of pd’s Merry Cooking World.So far in my previous posts i have given you some mouth watering recipes in a healthy way,hope you all love it,and hope you enjoyed visiting my blog.Thank you all for your abundant support and encouragement for my recipes.

IMPORTANCE OF COOKING:

Having a lovely meal is not all about eating what is on the plate.It is often about the sensations and memories we attach to it.Perhaps it’s sitting at the kitchen table on a cold winter’s day with a coffee with our friends or having a cold ice cream on a summer’s evening in the garden,having been cooped up all day at work.

There is something hugely satisfying about having cooked a meal for your family or friends.Some of the best discussions and most fun we have had in our house have been round the table following good food.

As we know there are many benefits in home cooking,it is healthier.We can control the amount of fat ,sugar,and salt that we can put in our food.Home cooking introduces our children good eating practices.It is also educational and will improve their knowledge of nutrition.If they show the slightest interest in food, get them involved.It will inevitably mean more mess but it is so worthwhile.It helps them to develop life-long skills which they will hopefully pass to their own children.

Cooking is fun.Whilst certain flavours and textures belong together,there is always scope to be a little creative.Some recipes may take little time to prepare and others may take a few hours of slow cooking.The important thing is that the end result tastes good.

Cooking is about using good basic ingredients and preparing them with care and attention.Cooking does matter,it should be a part of daily life.The route to a diet of fresh unprocessed,healthy food is in your kitchen.Merry Cooking!

TRADITIONAL FOOD:

Though we eat fast food and jung foods like pizzas and burgers,the taste of the traditional food is unique.It has a special taste which will temptates our taste buds.

A meal called (saapaadu) consists of rice with other typical Tamilan dishes on a banana leaf.A typical Tamilan would eat in banana leaf as it gives different flavour and taste to the food.But it can also be served on a stainless steel plate with a selection of different dishes in small bowls.Rice is essential to the popular definition of meals.While North indian thali (meals) consists mainly indian breads like roti,paratha,and naan,Tamil meals (saapaadu) comes mostly with rice.

Paayasam is usually served at the end as a dessert to finish the meal.

Finally a banana,beeda,and a glass of juice or lassi will be offered.One can eat the authentic Tamil dishes in a typical restaurant in Tamil Nadu .A restaurant in other south Indian states like Andhra,Kerala,and Karnataka and also those in rest of India have their own versions of meals native to each state.

POPULAR DISHES OF POPULAR PLACES:

First let us have a glance at the famous dishes of our city that is Madurai.Madurai is known for nonvegetarian food made of mutton,Beaf,Chicken,Biriyani,Fish.Parotta made with maida or all-purpose flour,and loosely similar to the north indian wheat-flour based Paratha, is served at food outlets in Tamil Nadu,especially in places like Madurai.Madurai has it’s own unique food such as jigarthanda,muttaiparotta,paruthipal,Karidosai,ennaidosai,and idlywhich are rarely found in other parts of Tamil Nadu.

The chettinad region comprising karaikudi and adjoining areas is known for both traditional vegetarian dishes like idiyappam,uthappam,paal paniyaram and non-vegetarian dishes made primarily using chicken and mutton.

Ok now i am going to end my blog with a sweet, MOONG DHAL HALWA(AKKARAVADISAL).Which is the favorite food for my favorite God LORD BALAJI.

Akkaravadisal is also called as Akkara adisil is a traditional iyengar speciality.“Akkaaram”means “Sugarcane”.”Adisil” means “Rice”.This sweet is very popular in Trichy.Traditionally in temples they cook this sweet in a bronze pot the one we use for making sweet pongal.Though it takes time the taste is just awesome.Akkaravadisal is a slightly different take to sweet milk pongal which has it’s own unique flavour and texture.
INGREDIENTS:

  • Raw rice-1/2 cup.
  • Moong dhal-1 cup.
  • Jaggery(powdered)-4 cup.
  • Milk-200 ml.
  • Saffron-a small pinch.
  • Ghee-5 to 6 tablespoon.
  • Wheat flour-1 tablespoon.
  • Badam-4 to 5.
  • Cardamom(Powdered)-a small pinch.


METHOD:

  • Heat the pan and fry the Badam in ghee.Keep it aside.
  • Take the powdered jaggery in a pan,add water to it and mash it well so that the jaggery dissolves quickly.Then heat it up and let it boil for in medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes until the syrup becomes slightly thick,no need to check for consistency.Strain well to remove the impurities and set aside.
  • Soak the saffron in the boiled milk,leave until the essence of the saffron gets into the milk.Keep it aside.
  • Rinse the raw rice and moong dhal to remove the impurities.
  1. Heat the pan and pour some water and add the cleansed raw rice and moong dhal,cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Add the saffron soaked milk to the mixture and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Now add the jaggery syrup to the mixture and stir well.
  4. Add the wheat flour and mix well continuously for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Now Add the powdered cardamom and mix well.
  6. Add ghee to the mixture and garnish it with fried badams.

Moong dhal halwa(Akkaravadisal) is ready.Serve hot.

  • For garnishing you can use cashews and raisins.

This dish was completely made by my mother,i just helped her.Not only for this recipe but for all the recipes she supported and helped me a lot.When mam asked us to create a blog,my mind was blank,i have no idea about the topic,i asked my mother,she’s the one who asked me to post about cooking.I was scared and told my mother”ma for the past one month only i have started to cook,how can i post about cooking?” But she encouraged me,she gave me more confidence.For each and every step she supported me.She’s not well when i posted my 4th recipe,but even though she’s not well,she helped me when i did that recipe.She gave me more innovative and creative ideas for how to present the recipes.She is my biggest support,She is my back bone,She is my everything.She’s the only reason for the successful outcome of my blog.So first i must heartfully thank my mother.

So far in my previous posts,hope i have given you some mouth watering dishes.So like that this time also i am going to give you a delicious recipe.

ALOO GOBI MASAL

Everyone would have tasted this recipe in hotels and restaurants,they’ll use many artificial ingredients and preservatives for rich taste which will cause many health defects,so now i am going to do this in a healthy way with healthy ingredients.

Definitely everyone will be addicted to the taste of cauliflower.Especially for children,if you ask them”what is your favourite food?”they’ll definitely answer cauliflower deep fry,gobi 65 etc.Not only for children,it will be favourite for all age groups.Cauliflower haters are very rare to see.Though we are not hungry,if we smell the rich aroma of cauliflower,it temptates our taste buds and it stimulates our appetizer.It has a unique taste and smell than all the vegetables.Babycorn,mushroom,paneer are all current vegetables which became popular recently,but cauliflower became popular even before 20 years,of course till now it is popular.Ooty and kodaikanal are the places which are familiar for the growth of cauliflower.

Let us see how to use this delicious vegetable in a delicious way.

My mother was not well while i was doing this recipe,but though she was not well she helped me and she supported me a lot,she gave me many innovative and creative ideas for how to present this recipe.So my mother is the only reason for the successful outcome of this recipe.so i must thank my mother for her huge support.

ALOO GOBI MASAL

INGREDIENTS:

  • Cauliflower-1 flower(small).
  • Potato-1/2.
  • Onion-1.
  • Tomato-1.
  • Coconut milk-1/2 cup(optional).
  • Rice flour-1/2 tablespoon(optional).       (Coconut milk and rice flour for thickness).
  • Ginger garlic paste-2 tspn.
  • Turmeric powder-1 tspn.
  • Garam masal-1 tspn.
  • Chilli powder-according to your taste.
  • Salt-according to your taste.
  • Cloves-2.
  • Cinnamon-1.
  • Oil-2 to 3 tablespoon.





MEDICINAL VALUES OF CAULIFLOWER:

The health benefits of cauliflower include relief from indigestion,ultraviolet radiation,diabetes,colitis,respiratory papillomatosis,macular degeneration,obesity,and hypertension.The antioxidant power of cauliflower helps in strengthening the immune system and also helps in reducing risk of stroke,cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.It also aids in maintaining bone,brain and cellular health,electrolyte balance,optimum cholesterol levels and prevents cardiovascular disorders.

Green cauliflower:Green cauliflower is also referred to as broccoflower.It can be found in normal curd shaped form as well as in a spiky variant called Romanesco broccoli.

Purple cauliflower:The antioxidant group anthocyanins present in the purple cauliflower provides the colour for this variety.

Orange cauliflower:Orange cauliflower is very nutritious and contains immense amount of vitamin A.

  • Stomach disorders-Cauliflower is a source of dietary fiber that aids in digestion and promotes the elimination of toxins from the body.
  • Respiratory papillomatosis:It is a virus that affects the vocal cords.Cauliflower contains 3 carbinol,which is effective in the treatment of recurrent respiratory pappillomatosis.
  • Cancer-Cauliflower assists in producing the risk of various types of cancer such as lung cancer,bladder cancer,breast cancer,ovarian cancer,and cervical cancer.
  • Bone health-Cauliflower contains vitamin C which plays an important role in the production of collagen,which protects the joints and bones from inflammatory damage.
  • Neurodegenerative disorders-The sulforaphane and indoles present in cauliflower play a key role in reducing the progression of neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Immune system-Cauliflower is rich in antioxidants and immune strengthening nutrients which strengthens the defense mechanisms of the body by hampering the growth of disease causing inflammation.
  • Obesity-Cauliflower contains healthful components such as indoles,which possess anti-obesity effects.

MEDICINAL VALUES OF POTATO:

potatoes are one of the most common and important food sources on the planet,and they contain a wealth of healthy benefits that make them all the more essential as a staple dietary item for much of the world’s population.These health benefits include their ability to improve digestion,reduce cholesterol levels,boost heart health,protect from polyps,prevent cancer,manage diabetes,strengthen the immune system,reduce signs of aging,protect the skin,increase circulation,reduce blood pressure,maintain fluid balance,reduce insomnia,and boost eye health.

Naughty children around the world often refuse to eat other vegetables but they all like potatoes.This is the magical quality of potatoes.

  • Digestion-Since potatoes predominantly contain carbohydrates,they are easy to digest and facilitate digestion.
  • Skin care-Potatoes contains vitamin C and vitamin B complex as well as minerals like potassium,magnesium,phosphorous,and zinc are good for the skin.
  • Cancer prevention-Certain type of potatoes,particularly red and russet ones,contain high levels of flavanoid antioxidants and vitamin A like zeaxanthin and carotenes,which can protect you against cancer.
  • Diarrhea-They are an excellent component of an energyrich diet for those suffering from diarrhea,since it is very easy to digest and contains mild roughage.



MEDICINAL VALUES OF COCONUT MILK:


  • In addition to providing nutrients and it’s awesome taste,coconut milk contains beneficial fat called lauric acid,a medium-chain fatty acid that’s easily absorbed and used by the body for energy.Coconuts’fatty acids are primarily saturated fats,but don’t think these will raise your cholesterol levels and cause heart damage.Instead they are known to actually do the opposite-coconut milk can help you lower the cholesterol levels,improve blood pressure,and prevents heart attack or a stroke.
  • Full-fat coconut milk contains all of it’s natural fatty acids,while light coconut milks are strained to remove some of the fat,which creates a thinner,lower-calorie milk.
  • Helps lose weight-Coconut milk is a very filling,fat-burning food.
  • Improves digestion and Relieves constipation-Coconut milk nourishes the digestive lining due to its electrolytes and healthy fats.
  • Manages blood sugar and Control diabetes-The fat content of coconut milk can help slow the rate at which sugar is released into the bloodstream,better controlling insulin levels and preventing a “sugar high”or worse,conditions like diabetes.
  • Prevent ulcers-This is the major benefit of the coconut milk,coconut milk can help to reduce the occurrence of ulcers.Coconut milk had protective effects on the ulcerated gastric mucus that can lead to painful ulcers.


METHOD:

  1. Boil the cauliflower and potato,add some salt,leave it for 15 to 20 minutes till it becomes soft.
  2. Heat the pan,pour 2 to 3 tablespoon of oil,put the cloves and cinnamon and saute it lightly and add the finely chopped onions saute until it becomes to the golden brown colour.
  3. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Now add the tomatoes and saute until it becomes soft.
  5. Pour some water and add turmeric powder,garam masal,chilli powder and salt and stir well.
  6. Add the boiled cauliflower and potato to the masal and mix well.Leave it until the essence of the masal gets deep into the vegetables.
  7. Now add the coconut milk and rice flour for thickness and rice flavor.This is optional,if you didn’t like the smell of the coconut milk then you can completely avoid this step.
  8. If you want you can garnish it with coriander leaves.

Aloo Gobi Masal is ready.Serve hot.

This tasteful dish goes well with dosa,roti,and rice.

 NOTE:

  • You can use cashew paste instead of coconut milk and rice flour for thickness.

TIPS:

  • If you use the coconut milk for your recipes,add it at the end of your dish,don’t cook it,because if you cook the coconut milk then the healthy essence of the coconut milk will be gone.
  • Wash the cauliflower for 2 to 3 times,because there will be pesticides on the surface of the flower,as it grows in the ground.

In my first post i gave a short note about the benifits of Traditional cooking.So now i am going to give you all a traditional treat.CHETTINAD CHICKEN CURRY.

It is very popular in chettinad area,which is karaikudi,and there are so many trained cooks to prepare this delicious recipe.Every non-vegetarians would definitely love chicken,even i too was addicted to that taste.Some may say that chicken is injurious to health especially for heart patients,but doctor’s advice that heart patients can take one or two pieces occasionally which will not be harmful,so not only for heart patients but it is advisable for all the people to take chicken occasionally.So now i am going to explain how to prepare this mouth watering dish in a healthy way.

My mother supported me a lot,actually she’s the one who instructed me how to prepare this recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken(boneless)-1/2 kg(wash and pat the dry chicken.Marinate with turmeric powder,ginger garlic paste and curd.Keep it aside).


  • Onion-2.
  • Tomato-2.
  • Garlic-2 to 3 flakes(optional).


  • Bay leaf-1.
  • Cloves-2.
  • Cinnamon-1.
  • Cardamom-1.


  • Ginger garlic paste-2 tsp.
  • Oil-2 to 3 tablespoon.
  • Salt-according to your taste.


Ingredients required for Masal:

  • Dry red chilli-5 to 6.
  • Pepper-1 tablespoon.
  • Coriander seeds-1 tablespoon.
  • Fennel seeds-1 tablespoon.
  • Cumin seeds-1 tablespoon.
  • Gram dhal-1 tablespoon.
  • Thoor dhal-1 tablespoon.
  • Dry coconut-1 small cup.


These are the ingredients required for this delicious recipe.

MEDICINAL VALUES OF GARLIC:

Let food be thy medicine,and medicine be thy food.”

  • Garlic contains a compound called Allicin,which has potent medicinal properties.
  • Lung cancer-People who take raw garlic at least twice a week will have a 44 percent low risk of developing lung cancer.
  • Brain cancer-Organo-sulfur compounds found in garlic have been identified as effective in destroying the cells in glioblastomas,a type of deadly brain tumor.
  • Heart protection-Diallyl trisulfide a component of garlic oil,helps protect the heart during cardiac surgery and heart attack.
  • Therapeutic properties-Garlic is widely used for several conditions linked to the blood system and heart,including atherosclerosis(hardening of the arteries),high cholesterol,heart attack,coronary heart disease and hypertension.
  • Garlic is used by some people for the prevention of lung cancer,breast cancer,stomach cancer,rectal cancer,and colon cancer.
  • Powerful antibiotic-Diallyl sulfide,a compound in garlic was 100 times more effective than two popular antibiotics.
  • Garlic oil may help protect diabetes patients from cardiomyopathy.




METHOD
:

  • Heat the pan and put red chillies,pepper,fennel seeds,cumin seeds,gram dhal,thoor dhal and dry coconut and saute it for 4 to 5 minutes till the colour changes, without oil.keep it aside.Let it cool for sometime.
  • Grind all the ingredients of masal into a smooth paste in a mixer.Keep it aside.

  1. Heat the pan and pour 2 to 3 tablespoon of oil and put bay leaf,cinnamon,cardamom,cloves and saute it for a minute.
  2. Add the finely chopped onions and saute till the colour of the onion changes into golden brown colour,add the ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell disappears.
  3. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and saute till it becomes soft.
  4. Now add the marinated chicken and add some water,mix well and cover it with the lid for 10 to 15 minutes till the chicken becomes soft.
  5. Now add the grinded masal paste and salt,leave it for 5 to 10 minutes stir once or twice in between.

Chettinad chicken curry is ready.Serve hot.If you want you can garnish it with coriander leaves.

This delicious curry goes well with rice,dosa,chappathi and roti.

 NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF SALAD:

  • Salads can be packed full of valuable nutrients,depending on the variety of vegetables you put in them.
  • Benifits-A study of 17,500 people,conducted by Louisiana State University and UCLA,revealed that regular salad eaters have higher nutrient levels in their bloodstreams than non-salad eaters.
  • Nutrients-Regular salad eaters can gain levels of vitamin C,folic acid,alpha and beta carotene,lycopene and vitamin E.
  • Calories-Salad can be a calorie-conscious lunch choice.A small caesar salad contains 130 calories,a small greek salad has 110 calories, a small spinach salad contains 220 calories and a small onion salad contains 120 calories.
  • A small calorie is the perfect choice for people who are watching calorie,for carbohydrate intake.

Whenever you take any heavy food, take a small amount of onion salad it is very good for digestion.

TIPS:

  • While marinating chicken it is good to add curd,because curd would make the chicken even more softer.

Chicken lovers can definitely try this healthy method,of course this chicken curry will have a temptative taste.Hope i have given you a mouth watering dish,in a healthy way.

Veggie pizza

First of all i must thank my mother for supporting me, because i am trying this recipe for the first time.l was quiet nervous while doing this recipe,but my mother encouraged me a lot,she helped me in each and every step while i was doing this recipe.By God’s grace the output is good.so I must heartfully thank my mother for her affectionate support.

In my first post i told you all that you must avoid pizzas and burgers which are considered as injurious to health.Hence i have chosen to prepare pizza but without any harmful ingredients.Why i have chosen this recipe means because now a days it is a popular dish among children and even aged people,because it temptates our taste buds and we are addicted to that taste without knowing the harmfulness.Pizzas are prepared in the pizza corners in a harmful way by adding harmful ingredients like chemicals and preservatives to keep the vegetables and toppings on the pizzas fresh and attractive.But it’s not harmful to take pizzas occasionally and it’s not harmful when we prepare pizzas in our home by using fresh vegetables and other healthy ingredients without any chemicals and preservatives.

Everybody thinks that pizza is harmful and injurious to health but pizzas can be prepared in a hygenic way as i said above.For this reason only i have chosen this recipe.Hope you’ll like it.

Benifits of Microwave Cooking:

Some might think that microwave cooking is harmful and dangerous.Yeah i too agree it’s harmful,but it is harmless when we use it occasionally.It has many advantages than disadvantages;

  • The main advantage is cooking time,microwave oven reduces to one fourth of the time taken on gas stoves.So,the energy and time are saved.
  • No need to keep a watch.
  • Easy to clean.
  • The utensils in the oven do not get heated,only the food gets heated.
  • Heating frozen foods through microwave oven takes less time.
  • It reduces the consumption of oil,threby allows to prepare low fat food.
  • Retains nutrients and vitamins in the food.

Okay now we can see how to make a tasty and healthy veggie pizza…

Ingredients:

  • Ready made pizza base-1
  • Mozzarella cheese-1 cup (grated).
  • Olive oil-to drizzle. 
  • Jalapenos -2 to 3 chopped.(optional).        VEGETABLES
  • Yellow or green capsicum-1/2 (cut into cubes).
  • Onion-1/2 (cut into cubes).
  • Tomato-1 (cut into cubes).
  • Baby corns-3 to 4 (cut into thin rounds).(or) Corn kernals-2 tablespoon.
  • Carrots-1 (cut into thin slices).
  • White vinegar-1 tablespoon.
  • Salt-1/2 tsp.
  • Pepper-1/4 tsp.
  • Red chilli flakes-1/2 tsp.                              FOR TOMATO SPREAD
  • Oil-1 tablespoon.
  • Garlic paste-1 tsp.
  •  Tomato puree-1/2 cup.
  • Tomato ketchup-2 tablespoon.
  • Salt-1/2 tsp.
  • Pepper-1/4 tsp.


Medicines values of:

Capsicum:

Capsicum,also known as red pepper or chilli pepper,is an herb.Capsicum is used for various problems with digestion including stomach upset,intestinal gas,stomach pain,diarrhea,and cramps.The health benefits of capsicum include relief from cancer,peptic ulcer,menopausal problems,low risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.It has anti-inflammatory analgesic properties and may also provide relief from pain related to arthritis.It also provides relief from fibromyalgia,skin and psoriasis.

Onion:

Onions have been studied extensively in relation to cancer especially stomach and colrectal cancers.Frequent intake of onion has been inversely related with the risk of Esophageal and stomach cancer.Folate found in onions,may help with depression.

Tomato:

The health benifits of tomatoes include improved eye sight,good stomach health,and reduced blood pressure,as well as relief from diabetes,skin problems and urinary tract infections.Furthermore tomatoes can increase digestion,stimulate blood circulation,reduce cholesterol levels,improve fluid balance,protect kidneys,detoxify the body,prevent premature aging and reduce inflammation and related conditions.Tomatoes contains large number of antioxidants that have been proven to fight against different forms of cancer.It is a rich source of vitamins and minerals and exerts a protective effect against cardiovascular diseases.

Corn:

Corn prevents from digestive problems like Constipation and hermorrhoids as well as colon cancer.Corn contains vitamin B12 and folic acid which is one of the essential minerals required to form new red blood cells.Corn is also a strarchy vegetable which contains high amount of carbohydrates which provide you with short term and long term energy.The regular consumption of corn kernals assists in the management of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and protects against hypertension.Yellow corn is a rich source of beta-carotene which forms vitamin A that is vital for the maintenance of healthy skin.

Carrot:

The health benefits of carrots include reduced cholesterol,prevention from heart attacks,warding off of certain cancers,improving vision,and reducing the signs of premature aging.Furthermore carrots have the ability to increase the health of your skin,boost the immune system,improve digestion,increase cardiovascular health,detoxify the body,and boost our oral health.They also provide a well-rounded influx of vitamins and minerals.

Method:

  1. For tomato spread,put all ingredients of tomato spread in a bowl.Microwave for 2 minutes.
  2. Brush the bottom of pizza with olive oil,place pizza with bottom side up on the high rack and grill for 3 minutes or till crisp.Remove from oven.
  3. Put tomato spread on the side which has not been grilled.Sprinkle a little cheese.Arrange most of the vegetables.
  4. Sprinkle the remaining cheese.Arrange remaining vegetables and jalapenos.Sprinkle some red chilli flakes.Drizzle olive oil on the cheese and vegetables.
  5. Grill for 4 minutes or till cheese melts.Serve hot.

Note:

  • You can add whatever vegetables you like.
  • You can add chicken.
  • You can also use butter instead of olive oil.
  • You can add oregano if you want.

Pizza lovers can switch over to this method.Even i too like pizzas,i have already switched over to this method.Hope you’ll also try this healthy method.

Cheesy mushroom omelette

I mentioned in my previous post that i’ll give you many mouth watering recipes as i said,now i am going to give you a delicious dish cheesy mushroom omelette.

   It is a different recipe,because usually all would prepare omelette using vegetables in routine way, but i chose mushroom because mushroom contains more proteins than any other nutrients.I’ll give you my own way of preparation for this recipe.Hope you’ll like it.

Medicinal values of mushroom:

  1. CancerThe vitamin D in mushrooms has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by contributing to the regulation of the cell growth cycle.The folate in mushrooms plays an important role in DNA synthesis and repair,thus preventing the formation of cancer cells.
  2. DiabetesOne cup of grilled portabella mushrooms and one cupo of stir-fried shiitake mushrooms both provide about 3 grams of fiber.
  3. Heart healthThe fiber,potassium and vitamin C content in mushrooms all contribute to cardiovascular health.Consuming mushrooms which are high in potassium and low in sodium helps to lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular health.
  4. ImmunityThe beta-glucan fibers found in the cell walls of mushrooms stimulate the immune system to fight cancer cells and prevent tumors from forming.
  5. Weight management and satietyMushrooms contains two types of dietary fibers in their cell walls like beta-glucans and chitin which increase satiety and reduce appetite,making you feel fuller longer and thereby lowering your overall calorie intake.

Ingredients required:

  • Button mushrooms-10 to 15 pieces.
  • Oil-2 tablespoons.
  • Butter- 2 tablespoons.
  • Milk-2 tablespoons.
  • Egg-
  • Mozzarella cheese-2 to 3 tablespoons(grated).
  • Spring onion-small bunch(finely chopped).
  •  White pepper-1/2 tablespoon.
  • Salt-according to your taste.

    Method:

  1. Heat the pan and put 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil and add the mushrooms.
  2. Add white pepper and salt according to your taste and saute it for 5 to 7 minutes until the raw smell of mushroom disappears.
  3. The mushroom will ooze out water,so wait until the water gets evaporated.
  4. Now add the chopped spring onions and saute it for another 2 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mushroom mixture in a bowl and keep it aside let it cool for sometime.
  6. Now break the eggs in the bowl and add milk,white pepper and salt and whisk well.
  7. In the same pan put 2 tablespoons of butter and pour the egg mixture  in the pan and spread covering the entire pan.
  8. Add the grated mozzarella cheese and mushroom mixture at the top of the egg and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Transfer the cheesy mushroom omelette in a plate and serve hot.

Note:

  1. Not only mushroom you can add whatever vegetables you want.
  2. You can use olive oil instead of butter.
  3. You can also use black pepper instead of white pepper.

Tips:

  • Don’t wash the mushrooms better use soft cotton and rub it softly to clean it.

This delicious dish goes well with fried rice,biriyani and rice.

After the arrival of junk foods we totally forgot the traditional cooking like organic foods like wheat, amaranth,barley,buckwheat,corn,millet,rice,rye,sorghum and spelt these are the sprouted grains which has medicinal values.Because we changed our food habits and switched over to fast food like burger,pizza etc; consequently we are affected by dreadful diseases like cancer,heart attack and long disorders.So we must go back to our traditional food which will give long and healthy life.

In olden days our forefathers used to cook nutritious food with a use of traditional appliances like stone grinders and hand pounding.It is also a very good exercise for them which maintains their health till now.But now a days by using instant ready mixes we are missing these healthy tips left by our forefathers.

Cooking is about passion,so it may look slightly temperamental in a way that it’s too assertive to the naked eye.
